Description: McGhie's Quarry, Kirkby Thore, 1 1/4 m. NNE of Kirkby Thore Station. Looking E. Bedded silts and clays filling cavities in the Gypsum Bed. In some parts of the gypsum bed bedding joints have been enlarged by solution to cavities a foot or more in height and many square yards in extent. These have subsequently been filled with red clays and silts; and occasionally gravels which indicate a derivation from glacial deposits.
