Description: | Deverill's Gravel Pit, East Burnham. Looking NW. The 100' or Boyn Terrace of the Thames. East Burnham. The gravel is divisible into an upper and under series - the upper being unassorted with a clay matrix (hoggin) which rests erosively on the current-bedded sandy gravel at the base. The lower gravel is implementiferous, heavily rolled palaeolithic ovates occurring commonly and points rarely. Large quartzite pebbles compose much of the lower gravel. |
