Dryslwyn Hill, on which the castle stands, is a faulted inlier of Llandeilo and Bala Limestones projecting above the flood plain of the River Towy. Left centre, Gronger Hill. Middle distance right, the wooded Silurian scarps near Golden Grove. Distance right, the Old Red Sandstone fans.
