Description: | High Rocks, 2 m. W. of Tunbridge Wells. Rocky outcrop of a bed of hard sandstone of the Tunbridge Wells Sand. A bed of hard sandstone occurring in the Tunbridge Wells area at the top of the Lower Tunbridge Wells Sand (Ardingly Sandstone) is underlain by softer beds. In places streams have cut through the stone bed, and have formed steep-sided valleys, in the sides of which the sandstone formed striking rocks. |
