Description: | Portland Bill, Portland. Looking NW. Sea-stack of Portland Limestone. This stack, known as the Pulpit Rock, consists of Portland Chert Beds in the bottom part and of Portland Building Stone, overlain by a few feet of Purbeck Cap Beds at the top. On the mainland much of the Building Stone has been quarried away, with the exception of the massive block artifically tilted against the stack. |
