Description: Tunnel Hill road-cutting, Reigate. Looking SW. Folkestone Beds. The lower part of the face of the cutting (which near the arch is nearly vertical) is in sand similar to that seen in the Electricity Works Pit (Nos. A4623, A4624 and A4625), the upper part (which slopes back) is in the clay band, seen also in the Electricity Works Pit. The band of ironstone at the base of the clay (see No. A4624) can be seen projecting from the side of the cutting near the centre of the view. The clay band extends to the moat of Reigate Castle, where it holds up the water.
