Description: | Quarry E. of Rushton about 3 1/2 m. SW of Wellington. Looking NNW. Base of the Cambrian Quartzite. (As A4158.) The photograph shows the well-bedded bands of quartzite with intercalated shale. The more massive quartzite at the base is deposited in hollows of the Uriconian floor or in runnels in the shale bands. The quartzite forming the wall of the quarry in the background is brought down by the fault marked (in A4158) by the hammer. |
