| Description: | Rubha na Magach, Inverness-shire. Cross-cutting pegmatitic and granite veins of the Loch Laggan Pegmatite Complex in well-bedded psammites of the Dalradian Grampian Group. This complex is one of the late-tectonic granitic intrusions of the Caledonian Orogeny, a period of intense metamorphism and magmatism. Often referred to as the Loch Laggan Granite it is an intense vein-complex of granites and pegmatites but also including some applites and microgranites. The fact that the veins cut the Dalradian psammites indicate that they formed later than the psammites, hence late-tectonic. |
