Description: | The Spey Valley and the Cairngorm Mountains viewed looking south from the Relay Station on Laggan Hill near Grantown-on-Spey, 9 pm in the evening, Inverness-shire. The accordance of the summits in the Cairngorm plateau illustrates the pre-glacial Mesozoic to Tertiary peneplained land surface which has been considerably modified by glacial erosion, while in the foreground, the principal valleys of the River Spey and River Nethy have been enlarged to broad flat-bottomed features. The Cairngorm plateau coincides with the outcrop of the granite mass intruded into the Dalradian Central Highlands Migmatite Complex. |
