In the middle distance from left to right: a volcanic dolerite plug (Lower Carboniferous) of Castle Rock, forming 'crag and tail' with the Royal Mile; teschenite sill (Permo-Carboniferous) of Salisbury Craigs; vent agglomerate, intrusions and basaltic lavas (Lower Carboniferous) of Arthur's Seat volcano. Distance: volcanic hills (Lower Carboniferous) of Fife and Inchkeith.
