Description: Raised beach and modern beach deposits at the head of Loch Kishorn, Ross and Cromarty. Isostatic recovery sometimes failed to keep pace with eustatic rise of sea level as the water was returned to the oceans following the retreat and melting of the ice of the last glaciation. This gave rise to raised beaches in many parts of Scotland. There are both a late-glacial series of higher raised beaches and a series of lower postglacial raised beaches following a period of relatively low sea level. The raised beach at Kishorn will almost certainly be postglacial.
