Description: | Salisbury Craigs and St. Leonard's from the Queen's Drive, Edinburgh. A view of the crags with Edinburgh Castle and the city on the left. Salisbury Craigs on the right, are formed by a sill of teschenite of Lower Carboniferous age intruded into the Cementstone Group of the Lower Carboniferous. The crest of the grassy slope in the middle distance, beyond the glacially eroded hollow, is formed by the outcrop of the Heriot Mount and St. Leonard's Sill, also of the Lower Carboniferous age. Edinburgh Castle in the background on the left, rests on a Lower Carboniferous basalt plug. |
