Description: | Pettico Wick, photograph taken from about NT 9085 6915, Berwickshire. Coastal scenery. A broad horizontal syncline in Silurian greywackes and shales. The low rocks at the water level are in the complex axial region. The crag in right foreground is of Lower Old Red Sandstone lava, faulted by a north-west fault passing through the bay against the Silurian rocks. The lava forms the peninsula of St. Abb's Head which is behind the photographer. Silurian rocks of this type extend westward for about 10.5 km. |
