Description: | Looking south-south-west across Lochan an Iasgaich, Ross & Cromarty. Hummocky morainic drift in typical 'Ceud Cnoc' or 'Thousand Hills' topography. Probably one of the best examples in the Highlands. Hummocky moraines are the most widespread deposits left by the retreating and wasting ice masses. They cover large areas of the lower ground in the Northern Highlands and in the valley bottoms of more mountainous areas. Torridon Sandstone with Cambrian quartzite outliers repeatedly thrust, from hills in distance. |
