Description: | Glen Lyon from above Slatich, looking west, Perthshire. A typical glacially eroded U-shaped valley. During the last glaciation the Lyon Valley was filled with ice emanating from the high ground around Loch Lyon as well as glacier tongues from the many tributary glens opening on to it from north and south. The valley has a well-marked series of hanging valleys such as the Allt Conait, Gleann Da-Eig Burn and the Allt a' Chobhair. Since the ice left the area the valley bottom has seen the deposition of river alluvium. |
