| Description: | The narrows, Corran, Loch Linnhe, Inverness-shire. A glacial outwash fan once stretched right across the loch but evidence suggests it was breached before the 25 ft. raised beach was formed (the flat higher level on the peninsula on the left). This large gravel deposit is a fluvioglacial outwash fan. It marks a contemporaneous halt in the retreat of the valley glacier which occupied Loch Linnhe. It has an outward sloping surface characteristic of an outwash fan and the inner steeper surface is considered to represent the original ice contact slope. |
