Description: | The Wick River, near Wick, Caithness. The lower reach (tidal) of the Wick River. In the distance the river enters the sea through a deep cut in the glacial till. Wick River is tidal as far as [ND342522]. It flows through a broad alluvial plain, with gentle till slopes on either side. Low ridge of sand and gravel (esker) just visible where cut by stream in distance. Near Wick harbour (distance) the valley narrows suddenly, where the river has cut deep into the till. |
