Description: | Coire Garbhlach, Glen Feshie, Inverness, 7 m. east-south-east of Kingussie, Inverness-shire. On right - mountainside showing Grampian Group psammites resting on Cairngorm Granite. The granite surfaces are highly glaciated. (See also B759 - B761.) Upper slopes, right, show abundant exposure (mid grey) of psammites (metamorphosed sandstones) belonging to the Grampian Group. The strata dip away to the right. Below them, the lighter-toned rocks are granite of the Cairngorm pluton, which weathers easily into loose cobble-sized material forming screes. Below this, a few exposures of the granite occur in the stream. The granite contact is believed to be more steeply-dipping than the bedding of the psammites. |
