Description: Groverake Mine, Rookhope, Weardale, Co. Durham. Looking N. Groverake Vein in sub-level above 60-fathom level. The Groverake Vein is composed mainly of purple and green fluorite with bands of white quartz and bluish chalcedony. The outlines of fluorite cubes with overgrowth of quartz and chalcedony can be seen locally. This banding is characteristic of the Groverake Vein. The brown patches are superficial iron-staining. The compressed air pipe is about 7 cm. in diameter.
