| Description: | Plawsworth Sandpit, Co. Durham. Frost wedge in 'upper' gravel sequence. Gravels and coaly sands are faulted and folded above a continuous till horizon. Underlying the till are fine sands and silts which have been sheared during the emplacement of the till. The hammer is c. 30 cm. in length. The frost wedge is infilled with clayey head gravels. |
