Description: | Bagh Gleann Righ Mor 2 km. east of Ruantallain, Loch Tarbert, west coast of Jura, Argyllshire. Shingle of raised beaches. The beach at left-hand of photograph runs from 23 m.-39 m. above O.D. Bedrock is Jura Quartzite (Islay Subgroup, Argyll Group, Dalradian Supergroup), dipping at 20 to 30 degrees away from camera. Near loch are present-day beach and postglacial raised beach, the latter at c. 24 m. above O.D. Large shingle area on left in middle distance is late-glacial raised beach, extending from 23 to 39 m. above O.D. On right and in distance is Loch Tarbert, which almost divides Jura in two. |
