Description: | Traigh nam Feannag, 1 km. north of Inver Cottage, south-west coast of Jura, Argyllshire. Shingle of postglacial raised beach continuous with that of modern beach. Bedrock in foreground is Jura Quartzite (Islay Subgroup, Argyll Group, Dalradian Supergroup). Permo-Carboniferous quartz dolerite dyke intrudes Jura Quartzite on promontory at far end of beach. In distance is island of Islay. Present-day storm beach extends all round bay. In middle distance shingle of postglacial raised beach, c. 14 m. above O.D., is only partly separated from back of present-day beach. |
