Description: | Wemyss, Fifeshire. Ancient sea caves in cliff of sandstone at edge of raised beach. Cliff is made of soft sandstone within the Middle Coal Measures. Sandstones at top of cliff display honeycomb weathering, due to variation in amount and nature of cement. Sandstone is thickly bedded, with traces of cross-bedding visible in some beds. Cave lies at edge of sloping platform marking postglacial raised beach. |
