Description: A West of Scotland Water Authority pumping test was carried out on three new production boreholes to the north-west of Dumfries. This is a typical set-up for a large test and shows a white generator used to power an electrical submersible pump set at 80 m. depth. A dark discharge pipe can be seen in the foreground. This takes discharge water away from the site to a nearby stream. The test lasted for 6 weeks and helped to prove the yield of the Permian aquifer, which is now known to be one of the most highly productive in Scotland.
