Caption: | Crichton Hospital, Dumfries, Dumfries and Galloway Region. Surface well head during pumping test. A borehole drilled to 150 m. depth into Permian sandstone and breccia was tested for its yield of groundwater. |
Description: | The test lasted for 3 days continuous pumping. The yield was 25 litres per second for a drawdown in water level of 3 m. The photograph shows the well head assembly with the black pipe as the rising main, delivering water from the electrical submersible pump set at 60 m. below ground level. The valve assembly is used to alter the discharge rate. The generator that powers the pump is in the background. |
