Description: | Brent production platform in the northern North Sea. The Brent oil field is located in block 211/30 in the northern North Sea. This is one of the production platforms. The flare is waste gas being burnt after being collected as a by-product of extraction and processing of oil. Large reserves of oil and gas were discovered in the northern North Sea. After initial geophysical exploration test drilling would occur. With confirmation of exploitable quantities of oil or gas, production platforms would be installed in the fields to extract the hydrocarbons from the subsurface and pump them via pipelines to the shore where they would undergo refining. |
