Description: | The Forties oil field is located in Block 21/10 in the northern North Sea. This is one of the production platforms. The platform, constructed of steel would have depended on the sea bed for their support, usually in the case of these steel structures by piling. They are designed for use in water depths up to 180 m. (180 feet). Large reserves of oil and gas were discovered in the northern North Sea. Platforms were installed in the fields to extract the hydrocarbons from the subsurface and pump them via pipelines to the shore. |
