Description: | Oblique aerial view taken from above Bonnyrigg, looking north-east, Midlothian. Glaciofluvial deposits, north bank of River North Esk. Haveral Wood Sand Pit is to the left, Melville Sand Pit to the right. Wooded slope is the steeply cut side of the North Esk Valley. Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Craigs are visible in the background. A level glaciodeltaic terrace is visible around Melville Sand Pit; more undulating land to left is a higher terrace, parts of which are covered by the Roslin 'Till'. Sloping land towards Edinburgh is mapped as solid rock with boulder clay. |
