| Description: | Beggars Roost Quarry, Rockbeare, West Hill. Ventifact bed at top of Budleigh Salterton Pebble Beds. Ventifact-bearing bed at the top of the Budleigh Salterton Pebble Beds, consisting of reddish brown silty clay up to 0.3 m. thick, containing polished, pitted and faceted pebbles; the bed is interpreted as a 'Reg' type palaeosol horizon. It overlies horizontally-bedded gravel of the Budleigh Salterton Pebble Beds, and is overlain by medium-grained sands of the Otter Sandstone. The hammer is 0.3 m. long. Detail of A15284. |
