Description: Stretton Sugwas gravel-pits, Hereford. Fluvioglacial terrace deposits, Stretton Sugwas. During 1983, excavations at the south-east end of the Stretton Sugwas gravel-pits exposed flat-lying, ill-sorted, sandy gravel containing cross-bedded sand lenses in the lower part on fine, compact, poorly laminated silty sand. These deposits overlie slumped gravels of the kettle moraine which are not exposed in this section but are well exposed in deeper levels of the pits (see photographs A14218 to A14223).
