Description: Starston Sand and Gravel Pit, (700 m. E. of Starston Manor). Mendham Beds beneath Boulder Clay. In this pit, as at Mendham, flat-lying interbedded sands and sandy gravels demonstrate an upwards increase in gravel content. At the base of this section (out of the picture) the Starston Till (possibly equivalent to the Norwich Brickearth) was proved in a trench.
