Description: Oblique aerial view of Suilven and Canisp, inselbergs or island mountains sitting on undulating Lewisian gneiss showing a succession of ridges and low hills of bare rock with innumerable small lochs. Sutherland. View eastwards. Suilven is a relict mountain of reddish-brown Torridonian sandstone with basal conglomerate resting unconformably on an irregular basement of Lewisian gneiss. Canisp is capped by Basal Cambrian Quartzite and intruded by porphyry sills.
