| Description: | Hunderton Rough, River Wye, Hereford. Nature of exposure of bentonite horizon, Raglan Marl, River Wye. Silty mudstones containing a thin bentonite horizon are exposed beneath a dense, coarse, calcareous sandstone bed. The sandstone has probably protected the bentonite and prevented it from slaking. The beds are horizontal and are exposed about 4 m. above normal river level on the south bank of the river. |
