Description: West Burghill Pit, Portway, Hereford. Upper Portway Gravel. A northerly view of a 1.3 m. thick lens of hard cemented conglomerate resting on unconsolidated fine-grained gravel. The unusually coarse gravel for the Upper Portway Gravel is cemented by lime redistributed in solution from the abundant cornstone clasts.
