Description: | A view from the Clachtoll-Lochinver road 6 km. from Lochinver. Sutherland. Canisp, Suilven and Cul Mor. The Torridonian sandstone peaks of Canisp (left), Suilven (centre) and Cul Mor rising above the surface of Lewisian gneiss. The scenery is typical of the north-western seaboard of the Northern Highlands. Torridonian sandstone forms steep-sided, often isolated mountains rising abruptly and unconformably from a rocky, lochan-dotted terrain composed of the much older Lewisian rocks. |
