Description: | Leicester Lime Co. Chalk Pit, Keswick. Looking E. Glacial tectonics; cryoturbation and ice-deformed Chalk. The dark brown clay at the top of the section was deposited in a channel which has its axis trending north-south and deepens just beyond the quarry face. The deeply weathered chalk was deformed by permafrost which caused much intermixing with the boulder clay above. |
