Description: | Frettingham Lime Co. Pits, Caister St. Edmund. Looking E. Glacial beds overlying the Chalk at Caister St. Edmund. These deposits have in the past been referred to as the Norwich Crag, but in this exposure the characteristic variations typical of glacial deposits are seen. On the left of the picture a dark mass of stiff clay and flints has been caught up in the gravels. On the right a very rapid thickening of the gravel is evident. |
