Description: Upper Hellesdon, Norwich, old brick-pit (Norwich Brickearth). Looking W. Small sand-infilled channel in Norwich Brickearth. Both the sand and the Brickearth are highly ironstained. Movement of groundwater has resulted in the development of a mottled effect in the Brickearth near the contact with the sand. The channel, of which only a part is shown in this picture, is c. 10 yards across and has a regular concave base.
