Description: | Whitlingham Pit (W. side). Looking W. Norwich Crag at Whitlingham. These beds lie just below the 'Bure Valley Beds', and they comprise an alternation of thin silty clays and ripple-drifted sands. They have been equated with the Chillesford beds at Suffolk, but many authors would not accept this correlation. The marked regularity of the lithologies suggests a seasonal control upon deposition. In the bottom right of the picture their contact with well sorted shelly sands is seen. |
