Description: | The 'Fossil Grove', Victoria Park, Whiteinch, Glasgow. Renfrewshire. Natural casts of lower rooted portions of lepidodendron trees of Lower Carboniferous age. The famous Fossil Grove consists of casts of the lower rooted portions of lepidodendron trees preserved in sandstone. The horizon occurs in the lower part of the Limestone Coal Formation, possibly above the Johnstone Clayband Ironstone. |
