Description: Glenelg-Ratagain complex consists of successive intrusions of granitic and dioritic rocks with basic and ultrabasic rocks and was emplaced in Old Red Sandstone times (about 370-400 Ma. ago) after the cessation of Caledonian folding. The slopes in the foreground are chiefly composed of plutonic rocks belonging to the Glenelg-Ratagain complex. The middle distance embraces rocks of the Lewisian gneiss and Moine schist series. Skye hills in the distance.
