Description: | Panoramic view over Horsham (eastern part) from Denne Hill, Denne Park. Looking N. and NNE. Panoramic view over Horsham from the south. View from the escarpment of the Horsham Stone across the lower beds of the Weald Clay, to the built-up area of the town beyond the Arun, on the Upper Tunbridge Wells Sand. The woods of St. Leonard's Forest are visible beyond and right of the gasometer. The ridge on the skyline is formed of Weald Clay stratigraphically above the level of the Horsham Stone. It consists of silty clay in which are bands of ironstone and limestone with a capping of sandstone, folded synclinally. The Horsham Stone escarpment is not developed so strongly in that region and is not visible. |
