Description: | Chalk-pit on W. side of Dover Hill, 1050 yd. NNE of Folkestone Junction Station. Red-brown sand in clay-with-flints, of Pliocene origin, rests on an uneven 'piped' Middle Chalk surface. The sand is everywhere underlain by from 2 to 12 in. of grey and black mottled clay, with a great accumulation of unbroken flints. |
