Description: | Long Valley, 2 m. NW of Aldershot Station. Looking S. Rapid erosion by an intermittent stream. Tributaries to the intermittent stream, shown in A3239, on flowing across the gravel of Eelmore plain (Long Valley) produce small channels, but on reaching the edge of the gravel they cut rapidly down into the underlying Barton Sand, producing large pot-holes, the sides of which are constantly caving in. This action eventually results in the formation of a steep-sided gully which becomes widened after the manner of the main stream. |
