The upper horizontal beds consist of reddish loam with thin seams of pipeclay. Below is current-bedded sand, yellow in colour but stained pale pink in patches. The current-bedding is picked out with grains of glauconite. Also in the current-bedding there are small pellets of pipeclay worn into 'pebbles'.
