The upper half of the escarpment consists of the White Limestone; the lower half consists of the Lower Grey and Brown Limestone. The cottage (Pen-yr-erw) among the trees stands at the base of the red Basement Beds, between which and the observer the ground consists of Ludlow slates and flags. |
