Description: | South of Noss Head, 4.023 km. north of Wick. Caithness. Typical example of a 'geo' (goe) excavated along a vertical joint in the flagstones of the Old Red Sandstone Noss Head Group. The geo, a long narrow tidal inlet has formed due to erosion along a strongly developed vertical joint within a rock formation that is otherwise highly resistant to wave action. It would have begun as a cave and with subsequent collapse of the roof the geo has formed. |
