| Description: | The differential weathering of the rapid alternations of thin beds of rippled sandstones, pale greenish mudstones, thin lenticular black limestones and thin black flags is clearly picked out in the Noss Head Group in the cliff face. The gentle dip seawards produces the slightly overhanging cliffs. Overhanging cliff in flagstones of the Old Red Sandstone, Noss Head Group. The weathered face at top of cliff and the joint faces below show where erosion is most rapid. The lighthouse is on the top of the cliff. |
