The cliff at the chine shows the following descending succession: Recent Alluvium. Lower Greensand. Upper Crioceras Beds, 46 ft. Walpen Sands and Clay, 57 ft; clay forms shelf beyond chine. Lower Crioceras Beds, 16 ft. Beyond the chine, succession continues (in view) by Scaphites Beds, 50 ft; Lower Gryphaea Beds, 33 ft; Upper Lobster Bed, 40 ft. and Crackers Rock (in small promontory beyond the stranded bell-buoy) 20 ft.
