Description: | Pennland Brick and Tile Works, near Slough. Looking W. This photograph shows the base of the section in more detail. At the base is shown the grey glauconitic sand with very well marked current-bedding. Cutting across at an angle of some 6 degrees with the horizontal is a band of clay about 6 inches thick on the left and thinning to one inch when it passes into the two foot band of sand with clay nodules. These nodules have been formed from the erosion of the clay band and show that contemporaneous erosion is going on during the deposition of these beds. (Reading Beds.) |
